#6386 STAR SEEKER
WALK IN SPACE SET
Copyright 1969--first year available 1970
Perhaps
the rarest of the boxed sets, this time the Star Seeker comes in a traditional square
shaped box with a Major Matt Mason figure and an accessory that was unique to this set
alone. This accessory was a "black" wire with "orange" tubing. This
was to be used to suspend an astronaut outside of the capsule with the "orange"
tubing acting as a lifeline. The wire attaches to the outside of the craft giving the
"walk in space" illusion.
What fun we would have presetting the
Star Seekers' flight path and watching Major Matt Mason jiggling up and down being carried
helplessly around the kitchen floor slamming into asteroids, space debris, chair legs and
walls along the way! Man was this rough on his already fragile paint job or what?
PACKAGE DESCRIPTION:
The box had similar looking graphics and colors as the hex shaped Star Seeker box, but
shows Matt floating in space beside the craft.

COMMENTS:
I have heard that this set may also have been a "Sears" exclusive. Though I've
had these in my possession, Sears exclusives are not noted on the packaging.
Despite the fact that the Star Seeker
was a very interesting vehicle to begin with, this was the only version that to me seemed
to fit in with the MMM toyline. It seemed very appropriate for Matt to be performing space
walks...
