This was the first of several boxed multi accessory sets that would feature one or more astronaut figures with vehicles and other Space Equipment. Perhaps the most popular of these, the "Space Station / Space Crawler Deluxe Action Set" came with a complete Space Station, a Space Crawler and Major Matt Mason with his Space Sled and Jet Propulsion Pak. If you had no other set or accessories, this impressive ensemble featured the most popular and common original first year pieces.

Any child struck by the 1960's "space race" theme would feel at home on the moon with the Major's headquarters and the favorite lunar vehicle of most all "Mattel Astronaut Corps" club members. The MAC was a young astronauts club Mattel offered membership into with the purchase of MMM toys and accessories.
