# 5046 MAN IN SPACE 3
- RING VINYL NOTEBOOK BINDER
Copyright 1966-first year available 1967
This is a very unique non-toy item that sports
some of the most unusual Matt Mason graphics ever. The Major and crew are walking in
space, some sort of EVA with a satellite or other craft above the moon. The graphics are
"black" and "white" against a "bluish-green" background of
star studded space. Very similar to the vinyl wallet graphics. This is one of the rarest
of non-toy items for Major Matt . I'd have been very proud carrying this to school
speeding on my Space Sled. Thanks to Bill Ystrom in Chicago for loaning me his near
perfect condition binder for the photograph.
PACKAGE DESCRIPTION:
Sold as is, no box, possibly cello wrapped. Binder is 11 9/16" x 10 1/4" x 2
1/2".
DEALER CATALOG SPECS:
Unknown. Anyone out there that can offer info on how these were ordered by dealers? Help
would be appreciated and credit given in this space as well.
VARIATIONS:
Unknown. Being that the vinyl wallet and lunch box are featured in the dealer catalogs
with prototype illustrations not reflecting the actual production version graphics. I can
only assume this could also be the case with the binder. Mattel is notorious for using
prototypes in their box art and catalogs.
COMMENTS:
As the lunch box and wallet were also each in a set of four or more. Picturing other toys
that they made, such as Barbie and Creepy Crawlers. I do know that there was a Creepy
Crawlers Vinyl notebook binder as well. How many different subjects were in this series I
do not know. I'm sure if a catalog turns up displaying these, we'll find the answer.
ALSO INCLUDED IN:
The vinyl notebooks were only offered as individual items. |
